Technical Support Engineer
This role is an opportunity to be a key contributor to a U.S.-based team of IT experts at a small but growing company. This position is ideal for candidates who enjoy working directly with customers, troubleshooting complex configuration issues, and making a visible impact on the business.
You will support a diverse customer base by configuring and troubleshooting EventSentry installations, answering technical questions, and working closely with developers to identify and resolve product issues. You will also provide regular remote user training, help improve self-service resources and occasionally assist with maintaining local networking and systems infrastructure.
This is a full-time position, 8am–5pm CT, operating on a hybrid schedule (3 remote / 2 on-site) in the Chicago Loop. Local candidates are preferred, but remote applicants within the U.S. will be considered.
Responsibilities
- Provide product support to users via email, remote sessions and telephone
- Assist new customers with setup, onboarding, and best practices
- Deliver short training sessions to new & existing customers
- Collaborate with developers to reproduce, document, and resolve bugs
- Review and improve knowledge base and other self-help resources
- Support internal IT and networking infrastructure when needed
Required Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- 5+ years of experience administering Windows Server 2016+
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking
- Attention to detail
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Ability to adapt, prioritize, and switch context effectively
- Professional, proactive, and customer-focused mindset
Desired Skills
- SQL Server experience (MSSQL and/or PostgreSQL)
- PowerShell, Python or Batch scripting
- Experience with log management and/or SIEM products
- Networking utilities like ipconfig, Wireshark
- Sysinternals utilities like Sysmon, ProcessExplorer, ProcessMonitor
- Office365, Azure and/or AWS
- Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols including SNMP, SMTP, Syslog
- Proxmox and/or VMWare ESXi basics
