Groups

After clicking the Browse button in the main dialog you will be presented with the Active Directory Browser Window, indicating that objects are being enumerated:

Wait until all objects from your Active Directory tree appear in the browser window. This process may take several seconds, depending on the depth and the number of objects you have in your domain. Once the enumeration is complete you should see a dialog similar to this:

Changing the Root Path (Default Naming Context)

If your computer is the member of an AD domain then the root path will be automatically determined by AutoAdministrator. You may change the path any time by manually typing a different path into the field and clicking the Refresh button.

Selecting a group or OU/container

You can import computers from either containers (such as on OU) or from a group containing computer names.

Include sub containers / groups: Check this box to import computers from the specified container and all sub containers. If you are importing from a group then groups inside groups will also be parsed.

Include disabled computers: Check this box to include computer names that have been disabled in AD. By default those computers are not imported.

Once you have made your selection click the OK button to save your selection. You may now press the Add button in the main dialog to import the computers.

Refreshing the domain list

AutoAdministrator tries to reduce the time it takes to search the AD by remembering the maximum depth of the AD tree. If you are missing objects below a certain depth then you can press the Refresh button to reload the entire tree.
