To perform actions on remote computers they need to first be added to the computer list by importing them from a variety of sources. To add computers first choose and configure the import type and then click on the Add button.

Active Directory
Please see the chapter on Active Directory for more information on importing computers from Active Directory.
Network Neighborhood
You can import computer names from the network neighborhood by either importing all computers from a workgroup/domain or by applying a filter to the computer names. To import all computers from a particular workgroup/domain specify * as the filter. Otherwise specify any valid filter using the * and ? characters.
Filter Examples:
* all computers
b* all computers starting with a b
*nt* all computers containing "nt"
Filters are always case insensitive.
Single Computer
To add a single computer simply specify the name and click the Add button.
Ascii File
You can import computer names from a text file by specifying an ASCII file that contains one computer name per line.
EventSentry
If you are running EventSentry then you can import computer names by choosing a filter group from EventSentry. Simply select the filter group and click on the Add button to add the computers to the computer list.
Buttons
Add Adds computers to the computer list according to the import selection
Delete Removes the selected computer from the computer list
Delete All Removes all computer items from the computer list
Delete OK Removes all computer items that were previously processed successfully
Clear Removes all status and error information from the computer list
Please note that computers listed in the computer list will automatically be saved and reappear when you close and re-open AutoAdministrator. |
