The Network Status page provides the most simplistic view of your entire network using the smallest amount of screen space in the web reports. A quick glance at this page and you can get a clear idea of which machines have high CPU loads or which machines are running out of diskspace. The page is automatically updated to ensure that values are current.
Computer The machines listed in this section need to have Diskspace and Performance Monitoring enabled to be included on this page. Please see below for instructions on hiding unwanted computers.
OS This is an abbreviated indicator of which operating system the current machine is running. This information is originally included in the Hardware Inventory page.
Heartbeat This value indicates the response time of the remote host, if it is currently responding. If the remote machine is unavailable "ERROR" will be used instead of the response time.
Limits Performance limits are taken from the values set in the Management console. If the limits are not present, the Network Status page will use a default values provided.
CPU The page will initially look for the performance counter Processor(*)\% Processor Time for it's information. If this is unavailable, it will reference a counter named CPU in the EventSentry Management console. This is useful in cases where the machine being monitored is running a non-English version of Windows. The default critical limit for CPU value is higher than 90%.
Memory The page will initially look for the performance counter Memory\Available MBytes for it's information. If this is unavailable, it will reference a counter named System Memory in the EventSentry Management console. This is useful in cases where the machine being monitored is running a non-English version of Windows. The default critical limit for Memory is lower than 100 MB.
Disk Queue The page will initially look for the performance counter PhysicalDisk(*)\Avg. Disk Queue Length for it's information. If this is unavailable, it will reference a counter named Disk Utilization in the EventSentry Management console. This is useful in cases where the machine being monitored is running a non-English version of Windows. The default critical limit for Disk Queue Length is higher than 10.
Services If all Automatic services are currently running the value will be set to OK. Otherwise the number of stopped services that are set to Automatic will be indicated.
Logon This values shows how many users are currently logged on to the machine. To keep information relevant, user's who are logged on longer than a week are ignored.
Software This value shows the number of applications or patches installed today.
Diskspace A visual representation of the total diskspace on the machine.
Unwanted Machines If computers are listed on the Network Status page that you are not interested in or you have a very large network, there is an option to hide them. By clicking the "Hide Computer's" option you expand additional menu choices. Click the Hide checkbox next to the machine you would like to remove and the computer will be filtered out.
Restoring Machines The filtered computers can be added back into the Network Status list by removing them from the Hidden Computers field in the Profile Editor.
Automatic Refresh By default each individual values will be checked every 60 seconds. If any of the values have changed they will be updated and indicated with a transitional effect. There are a few options in the Profile Editor that let you control which method is used to indicate the change and how often the values are checked.
Links Each item on the Network Status page links back to the detailed page in the web interface.
Network Status with Groups Like other pages in the web reports, this page also takes advantage of the Groups functionality. This can help you isolate you Servers from your Workstations. Using this page you can quickly identify which servers should have patch installations or which terminal servers have the most users logged on.
