Permanent Internet Access is required for Gateway IP Monitor to work reliably.

If your default gateway has a permanent IP address then monitoring that IP address will not yield significant results. However you might want to consider switching to a more affordable service plan with a dynamic IP address an utilize the Gateway IP Monitor.

If your gateway does not perform Network Address Translation (NAT) then you will most likely not need to install Gateway IP Monitor since the IP address of your computer will already be valid on the Internet and not masked. However Gateway IP Monitor can still be used to monitor the IP address of the local machine.
