Requirements

All NTToolkit applications require one of the following Windows Operating Systems (referred to as "Windows" through this document):

Windows 2000
Windows Server 2003
Windows XP
Windows Vista
Windows Server 2008
Windows 7

64-bit Support

All utilities will run on 64-bit editions of Windows through WoW64. If a utility includes a native 64-bit version, then this will be indicated in the "Supported Platforms" section of that utility's help page ("64-bit version available").

Unix

Starting with version 2.0, some utilities also run on Unix platforms. Please check the help page of the utility in question to see which platforms it supports. As of version 2.0, the following Unix-based platforms, in addition to the Windows platforms above, are supported:

Linux
FreeBSD 8.x
OS X 10.5 & 10.6

The above platforms will be simply referred to as Linux, FreeBSD and OS X through this document.

Windows Vista Notes: Most of the executables require administrative access (e.g. uptime.exe), as such you will have to launch the command-line prompt with a user that has administrative permissions (right-click the icon and select "Run As Administrator").

The Hard link Shell Extension needs Windows 2000 or Windows XP and only works on NTFS file systems.

The NTToolkit will not run on Windows 95, 98 or ME.

Installation

To install the software, simply run the installer and select the components to be installed.

To update an existing installation, simply run the latest installer which should update the existing installation automatically. If the update fails, simply uninstall the existing version (if still possible) and reinstall the latest version.
